Pet Surgery

Whether it’s a spay or neuter procedure or cat declawing, many pets will have some type of surgery at some point in their lives. Bienville Animal Medical Center is equipped with a state-of-the-art surgery suite, where we perform a wide range of routine and non-routine surgical procedures as well as some specialized pet surgeries. As an AAHA-accredited pet hospital, we conform to all AAHA standards and perform surgeries using the most current techniques and technology. Before your pet’s surgery, our veterinary team performs a pre-surgical assessment, including conducting a physical exam and completing a blood test (if necessary). We make your pet’s safety and comfort our #1 priority during their pet surgery, and we assign a full-time surgical technician to every patient we treat.

About Our Pet Surgical Suite

Our state-of-the-art surgical suite features separate preparation, surgery, and recovery areas as well as sterile practices to prevent infections and cross-contamination. We also use advanced monitoring equipment to monitor pulse oximetry, respiration, temperature, and blood pressure before, during, and after pet surgery. All surgeries are performed under injectable or gas anesthesia, and all sedated patients receive an endotracheal tube for oxygen and an intravenous catheter (IV) for fluids. We can also provide pain medications during surgery and after surgery.
