Pain Relief for Dogs and Cats

Benefits of Pet Laser Therapy

Recent studies have shown that Class IV laser therapy can help reduce pain that’s associated with a number of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis
  • Skin conditions
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Lick granulomas
  • Abscesses
  • Snake and bug bites
  • Hot spots
  • Tendonitis
  • Trauma
  • Sprains/strains
  • Fractures

What to Expect During Laser Therapy Treatment

Because pet laser therapy is a non-invasive, surgery-free treatment technique, there is no need for anesthesia or hair shaving. The only requirement is for your pet and anyone in close proximity to the laser device to wear protective eyewear. The treatment itself involves using a hand piece from which the infrared laser light is applied. This light penetrates the tissues of the targeted area at the cellular level, stimulating the tissues to heal. Because laser therapy is pain-free, the only thing your pet will feel during treatment is a warm, soothing sensation. This often precedes the pain relief. In some cases, the feeling is so comforting, the pet will even fall asleep!

The nature and severity of your pet’s condition determines the number and length of treatments. Although treatments vary from pet to pet, in many cases pets can experience immediate results after just one laser therapy session, which is an average of 10 minutes long. For more chronic cases, multiple treatments might be required.
